Sonar Sharing via Ethernet Lowrance head unit with the yellow 5-pin ENET (Ethernet) connector are now capable of sharing scrolling sonar data, sonar control, and transducer water temp via this Ethernet connection. This functionality requires the latest available software on the Lowrance.com website.
Sharing scrolling Sonar data via Ethernet ensures that only one transducer is active (pinging) at any giving time, eliminating the possibility of crosstalk, interference from multiple active transducers. One Sonar Source is selected for the entire Ethernet network, i.e. all the head units that are connected via Ethernet.
Physical Connection: The Ethernet connector on the head units and all Ethernet devices is female (sockets). The Ethernet cables are available in OEM 6-Packs in the following sizes; 6’, 15’, and 25’. These cable are male (pins) on both sides.
There is no way to connect these cables in backwards.
If only two head units are connected together, then only one Ethernet cable is needed. If more than two head units or other Ethernet devices are being connected together then one Ethernet cable will be need for each device and a Navico Expansion Port will be required.
Up to five Ethernet devices can be connected using one Navico Expansion Port. Multiple Navico Expansion Ports can be used to connect more devices.
