Powered by some of the most advanced technologies that Shimano has to offer, the Shimano Metanium DC Casting Reel leverages signature features like Super Free Spool to free the spool from the pinion during casts, and S3D technology that reduces spool vibration, resulting in continuously smooth casting. Backed by Shielded Anti-Rust Bearings for extended reel life, the Shimano Metanium DC Casting Reel delivers enthusiast grade performance that will meet and exceed the standards of discerning anglers.
The i-DC5 computer brake system, allows you to cast very long, longer than any other brake system. You will set line material from 3, nylon, fluorocarbon or PE braid, and choose rig weight from 4, 1: heavy 18-30g, 2: regular 10-20g, 3: light 8-12g, 4: finesse 5-8g, A: full-auto setting and it covers very wide 7-30g weight automatically and you don't have to worry about the "weight setting."
The micro module gear system provides amazing smooth gearing. Pinion and master gear has twice the number of gear teeth than previous models, to drastically reduce the gearing noise.

Micro Module Gear
 The Micro Module Gear System creates a smooth retrieve. The new gear set makes use of smaller teeth and more of them. This means that there are more contact points between the drive gear and pinion gear. The result is a more efficient gear train with less gear feel. |
X-Ship
 X-Ship provides improved gear durability. By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the pinion gear maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears will stay in the same position under the heaviest loads. The added benefit is that friction between the spool shaft and gear are eliminated. This will enhance the casting performance of the reel with lighter lures, and allow for longer casts. |
Hagane Body
